His love of music led him to organise a festival of love, peace and music to help aid many charities throughout the world.
SOLAM is a small, friendly festival, but don't be fooled by its size, the quality of the bands is extremely high with many of the acts from the previous years going on to be signed up for recording deals!
SOLAM embodies all the qualities of a big festival in the making and is getting bigger & better each year, it is run wholly by musicians and we pride ourselves on provding a great weekend of music & arts at a low cost with all the proceeds going to charity.
The first SOLAM festival took place on the 1st and 2nd of August 2009 at The Mermaid Inn, Christian Malford, Nr Chippenham, Wilts and raised £639.79 for Shelter and The Halo Trust. Some of the musical highlights of the weekend were, Napoleon In Rags, The Melo D's, Buswell, The Sweet Plums and Headliners The Volt on the Sunday night
The second took place at the Lysely Arms between Chippenham and Calne over the weekend of 31 July - 1st August. We added an acoustic stage and between the two stages featured 42 bands/artists over the weekend. There were so many great and memorable performances over the two days it' would be unfair to name highlights, but a terrific weekend was had by all!
For 2011 SOLAM moved to Roves Farm in Sevenhampton which was the first time the festival had been set out on such a large scale. Throughout the weekend there were about 500 people enjoying the music and the sunshine which was sadly cut short by the torrential rain on Sunday. However the Woodstock theme proved a great success and gave many people the opportunity to hear songs from many acts who they may never have had the chance to see during the original event.
The 2012 Event looks set to be another great weekend and we have yet another theme for SOLAM but we are keeping things quiet until closer to the time, however it is guaranteed to be even better than the 2011 festival.....watch this space.
